I live in the village so was aware the Holcombe Inn was under new management so was eager to try it out as its reputation previously wasn't great.
We booked a table for 6 and were seated straight away but after about an hours wait we had to request that someone take order. I ordered a med/well done rump steak and it came very rare! It was impossible to grab the attention of the waitresses and as no-one came to check all was well I was forced to swap my meal with someone else! I'd been looking forward to the meal all day so was very disappointed and the steak only came with a few chips and half a tomato & mushroom. No salad or vegetables were included so we we ordered a side salad which didn't turn up!
The other people I dined with were fairly happy with their meals, though one in particular was very small and looked more like a starter and another thought she had packed mash instead of freshly made! The dishes all looked wonderful so clearly more effort was going into their appearan
